Our volunteers are integral to the successful running of our services. Here’s how they help:

- Providing driving lessons for learner drivers
- Companionship and support for older people and families
- Organising and distributing weekly aroha food parcels and our annual Christmas aroha baskets
- Contributing to the smooth running of Te Whai Community House
If you’re a good fit with our volunteering team, we’ll provide all the necessary training, support and opportunities. We look forward to having you join our team!
How to become a Volunteer
1. Complete our volunteer application form (below)
Please fill in the Te Whai Community Trust Volunteer Application form below
2. Police vetting
A Police check will be made to safeguard you, other volunteers, programme participants and our service users/community. You are required to complete your Police vetting form in person at Te Whai Community House (open 9 - 3pm Monday to Friday). For this, you will also need to provide two forms of photo ID for our records (details of suitable identification are listed in the application form).
3. Volunteer training and induction
Three to four times a year we hold Volunteer Intake Days where roles and expectations are discussed and training - such as confidentiality, boundaries and vulnerable persons education - takes place. All volunteers need to complete this training before they can begin to work for us.
Our volunteer coordinator will contact you with Volunteer Intake Day dates as they are confirmed.
You are welcome to complete your application form and Police vetting anytime during the year. Our admin team will contact you to confirm your attendance at the next Volunteer Intake Day closer to the time. Your Police vetting and ID must be submitted to Te Whai Community Trust at least 10 days BEFORE the Volunteer Intake Day you’re planning to attend.
If you have any questions please contact us on 09 431 3459 between 9 to 3pm, Monday to Friday.
